You can always count on Engaging With Vietnam (EWV) to think and act “outside the box.” The 13th Engaging With Vietnam conference will be no exception, as it will begin with a “Jazz Keynote.”

This keynote event will follow the path of the introduction and development of jazz in Vietnam, and will highlight its engagements with different audiences over time as a means to reflect upon the scholarly acts of knowledge production and engagement with academic audiences.

See. I told you that we think “outside the box.” 😊

The keynote will be “directed” by Dr. Stan BH Tan-Tangbau and will be “performed,” “reflected upon,” and “improvised” by Vietnamese jazz luminaries and scholars Quyen Van Minh, Luu Quang Minh, and Quyen Thien Dac.

Much more than an academic keynote, this will be an “engagement” of sound, words and participation.

So, get ready to step outside the box and be engaged with Vietnamese jazz at Engaging With Vietnam #13 in HCMC (+ a surprise 2nd location), this October 23-31, 2022.
