Theater in WW II the Philippines

These are a couple of advertisements for theater shows from the middle of World War II in the Philippines. Someone told me once that prior to the war the Filipinos had a film industry, but then during the war they stopped producing films, so the actors and actresses performed on stage instead. Whenever I look at these images it makes me wonder what WW II was like. The Philippines was occupied by the Japanese, and that supposedly created a lot of hardship. However, these images suggest that at least some people continued to do ok and to even have a good time. My guess would be, however, that Giliw Ko and Kaleya are not part of the collective memory of the war in the Philippines today.
